\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tDavid Nycum was an active member of the YMCA of Hagerstown for most of his adult life. Among other pursuits, he played in a men\u2019s basketball league, played competitive table tennis and racquetball, and began his love of pickleball at the Y. He also served on the committee to oversee the installation of the Y\u2019s outdoor pickleball courts. David became a competitive pickleball player and certified coach and medaled in numerous tournaments, twice qualifying for the National Senior Olympics.\r\n\r\nTragically, David collapsed on July 14, 2020, at the age of 63 and passed away on July 26. His presence is greatly missed by all who knew him. Memorial donations in his name led to the first annual David L. Nycum Memorial Pickleball Tournament, held at the YMCA in 2021.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The David L. Nycum Tournament Committee would like to honor Sharon M. Richmond, who was an avid pickleball player, friend to many, and dedicated secretary of our committee since its beginnings in 2020. Sharon was in David Nycum\u2019s first coaching class, and she kept his wife Debbie (a college friend with whom she reconnected as a result of David\u2019s class) on the pickleball courts during that first year and a half after his death.Sharon passed away on August 6, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. We hereafter name our tournament\u2019s women\u2019s doubles events as The Sharon M.
